20 YEARS IN THE MAKING.
AVAILABLE TODAY—LABOUR DAY, 2021

OBRA + SIX EIGHT SEVEN SIX

To highlight the importance of workers’ rights worldwide and to celebrate the work of the men and women essential to their business, OBRA and Six Eight Seven Six  launch their collaboration on Labour Day.

With a cult following amongst industry insiders, Six Eight Seven Six delivers immaculately tailored utilitarian apparel since 1995. Their garments seamlessly blend tradition and innovation, influenced by a slightly anarchist mindset.

OBRA, on the other hand, a young brand, is slowly redefining notions of what vulcanized footwear should be. That is: Comfortable, ethically made, environmentally sound, and of the highest quality. In contrast to Six Eight Seven Six rebellious penchants, OBRA brings with it a persona defined by NYC’s Lower East Side of the mid-nineties andW early oughts.

The two brands take great pride in the quality craftsmanship and manufacturing integrity that goes into their product. These traits, values, and a 20-year connection between their founders, made the brands’ collaboration inevitable.

OBRA + SIX EIGHT SEVEN SIX – THE SNEAKERS

Imagined and designed by Kenneth MacKenzie in London.
Manufactured to spec by OBRA in Brazil.

“The sneakers take a cue from the brutal concrete tones of the Brunswick Centre, home of Six Eight Seven Six and the designers’ friend: Pantone, which began in New York City, OBRA’s turf.” — Kenneth MacKenzie

Kenneth  MacKenzie took full advantage of the color blocking opportunities made possible by the sneaker’s multiple layers of rubber. The result is sneakers that reflect Six Eight Seven Six’s honest design sensibility. The designer’s final use of grays and blues complements the OBRA Low Full Cap sneakers with the same casual yet sartorial execution characteristic of Six Eight Seven Six

Meyba x 6876

2020 The iconic Sportswear Brand Meyba relaunched with brand direction led by long time 6876 collaborator and friend Neal Heard. Working closely with Neal we have created two shirts including the legendary Barcelona Away 1982 shirt.

Barcelona 1984-87 : The Team was managed by Terry Venables & featured players of the Calibre of Bernd Schuster & Steve Archibald winning the league in 1984 but also infamous for the cursed European Cup Final in 1986 held in Sevilla.

On the 7th of May 1986 Steaua Bucharest of Romania defeated the overwhelming favourites Barcelona in a penalty shoot out after extra Time. Barcelona had all of their penalties saved by Steaua goalkeeper.

However more positively this era also produced the iconic (1982-1984) away shirt as developed originally and now relaunched by Meyba with 6876 branding.

“The number 14 had a special importance to Iconic FC Barcelona player & later Manager Johan Cruyff. The Dutchman shone wearing various shirts, and using numbers ranging from 1 to 11. At the Camp Nou, he wore the number 9, due to the regulations stating that the starting lineup should use the first eleven numbers. However, Cruyff had another favourite figure that he would use whenever possible.

When he became a coach, the number 14 was given extra importance. If a player was to be given his Barça debut off the bench, he would be handed the shirt. One such player was the club’s recent coach , Ernesto Valverde.

Others were Òscar Garcia, Miquel Àngel Nadal and Jordi Cruyff, debuting as substitutes in the Blaugrana shirt under a legend of world football.

It was the junior Cruyff who was the first player given the number 14 on a permanent basis, when LaLiga regulations changed to allow personalised numbers”

Neal Heard is Owner of Lover’s F.C fashion label. Author of the books :’Trainers’ – The first and seminal book on Trainer/Sneaker culture and design’ 2003 and ‘The Football Shirts Book – A Connoisseurs Guide’  2017.

Neal is also Creative director of Newport County Football Cub.

SIGG Switzerland :

The history of SIGG Switzerland Bottles AG begins in 1908: Ferdinand Sigg, a metal working specialist, returned to Switzerland after years of learning and travelling. Together with his friend Xaver Küng, he established an aluminium goods factory in Biel.

Sigg and Küng are united in their love for metal and their belief that aluminium is the material of the future.

Ferdinand Sigg 15.12.1877 – 08.02.1930

Buchanan Scarf :

His next defence came on 26 June 1972, against Panama’s greatest, the then undefeated Roberto Durán at the Madison Square Garden (MSG) in New York, in a bout which had a highly controversial ending. Durán was ahead on all three cards at the end of the 13th round, when both fighters exchanged punches after the bell. Buchanan went down, writhing in pain from a low blow, that Buchanan’s trainer, Gil Clancy, said was caused by a knee to the groin. Referee Johnny LoBianco awarded the fight to Durán, insisting that the blow that took down Buchanan was “in the abdomen, not any lower” and that he felt that Buchanan would be unable to continue fighting.

Dérive Socks:

The concept of the dérive has its origins in the Letterist International, an avant-garde and Marxist collective based in Paris. The dérive was a critical tool for understanding and developing the theory of psychogeography, defined as the “specific effects of the geographical environment (whether consciously organized or not) on the emotions and behavior of individuals.

Debord defines the dérive as “a mode of experimental behavior linked to the conditions of urban society: a technique of rapid passage through varied ambiances.” It is an unplanned journey through a landscape, usually urban, in which participants drop their everyday relations and “let themselves be drawn by the attractions of the terrain and the encounters they find there”.
